Filter Shopify products by size, color, and in-stock variants
Use Power Tools Filter Menu and Variant Tagger to let Shopify shoppers filter by variant options such as size, color, material, and only variants that are currently in stock.
The problem
Shopify collection rules and many storefront filters work at the product level. That can be a problem for stores where customers care about a specific variant, such as size, color, material, width, voltage, scent, or style. A product can match the filter even if the selected variant is sold out.
Power Tools Variant Tagger adds and removes product tags based on in-stock variant options. Those tags can then be used by Filter Menu or by tag-based theme filters so shoppers can filter for variant choices that are actually available.
When Power Tools is a good fit
Use Variant Tagger when product-level filtering is not specific enough. Common examples include apparel sizes, shoe sizes, jewelry metals, product colors, materials, lengths, and other variant options where availability changes frequently.
Variant Tagger is also useful when you want to keep your existing Shopify theme filters but need cleaner tag data for variant options.
